Thursday
afternoon was the first day I was able to visit
and the work was well under way. |
To allow the work
to progress the pump was removing the surface
water. |
Building up
the towpath. |
Excavating at the junction. |
A little bit
of excitement. The Esso helicopter which
flies regularly along the route of the adjacent
oil pipe landed close by. They just wanted
to check that everyone was aware of the pipe.
No problem and they left satisfied. |
Weymoor Bridge. |
Saturday was our workparty day at the Basin.
We continued working on the wall.
The big tree
stump in corner of the Basin caused a
distraction. |
C. C. T's work at the Junction continues. |
John on the dumper. |
Karen too. |
Keith and John take time out to talk to
visitors. |
Meanwhile the
dredging continues. |
Looking
towards Cerny Wick. |
There is a brick culvert here. When
clear it should drain the field.
Is Karen
trying to out-dig the digger? |
Moving down the canal the digger removes the
soil and allows the water to drain. |
The Junction is already looking good. |
Tuesday Evening. I was in Swindon again
so I thought I'd get some pictures of the
finished work. To my surprise some of the team
were still there working. |
The entrance
to the Basin is now very well defined. |
The final job
was to remove the bund and allow water to fill
the newly dredged section. |
The
water will soon fill the junction and in a few
weeks it will start to naturalise.
Well done
Everyone!! |
