Sunday 21st January.

After a very windy and wet week we weren't sure what to expect. Fortunately the weather had moderated and the day turned out to be fairly bright, dry and chilly. We were not disappointed. A very large tree had fallen over at the end of the basin preventing the farmer's access to his field. Also the Thames & Severn Canal and the River Churn had overflowed into the adjacent fields. Although not technically our problem, but seeing as we had the manpower and that Bruce, the farmer, has been generous to us, part of the gang set about "tidying" up the tree. Other team members spent time trying to improve the footpath, clearing the basin edges, surveying the aqueduct and improving access for future work parties.
