After the hectic
WRG
weekend last month this Saturday was a a bit quieter. We amused
ourselves by moving aqueduct wall stone away from the big Ash tree
in preparation for removing it. We also continued clearing the
top of the aqueduct and lock chamber. Further progress was
also made with our archaeological survey. The flood water
levels around the site have not gone down much (if at all) and there
is the feeling of working on an island.
Stone from the aqueduct wall needed
to be moved.
This tree was damaging the lock
brickwork.
Hopefully these massive roots are
running horizontally.
The Basin always looks good in the
sunlight.

the River Churn.
River is overgrown at the
aqueduct site.
The top lock gate would have hinged
on this stone.
