The Thames & Severn Bridge
Sometime in
the 20th century the bridges at Latton Basin were destroyed.
One of these was Weymoor Bridge over the Thames & Severn canal which carried a track towards
Latton.
After the canals fell into disuse heavy farm machinery continued to use the
bridges,
which accounts for the condition of the Weymoor Bridge.
It survived until the late 1950s, when it was finally demolished.
Recently Cotswold Canal Trust
members went in to "Time Team" mode, and have exposed
some of the remains.
The brickwork looks remarkably well preserved.
Will it be rebuilt as a traditional Arch Bridge??
